JOB TITLE:  Drive Specialist / Engineer

General Summary

A member of the Management team, the Drive Specialist / Engineer will report to the Services Manager.  The Drive Specialist / Engineer will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, evaluating and servicing electrical distribution and control systems.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a team approach when working closely with other specialists / engineers, departments and contractors.

Working Conditions

The Drive Specialist / Engineer spends 80% of the time promoting safe work practices; testing, troubleshooting, evaluating and servicing electrical distribution and control systems; and providing support to the workforce in a mill environment that is relatively noisy with exposure to hazardous chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, electrical hazards, dust, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, slippery conditions and heavy machinery traffic.  The other 20% of the time is spent in an office environment planning and coordinating repair activities, planning for equipment outages, preparing reports and attending meetings.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain and improve Electrical & Instrumentation Equipment.
  • Operate computer-assisted software to help in engineering tasks.
  • Work closely with manufacture in new installations.
  • Perform detail calculations in the installation of new equipment.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
  • Supervise and train project team when necessary.
  • Oversee Project Production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily and on time.
  • Assist in developing capital projects when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Drive programming, both AC and DC drive systems, analog and digital.
  • Specific platform experience: ABS, Reliance, GE Siltrol, Analog Siltron, MCCs-Westinghouse and Allen Bradley, Switchgear, Eaton Switchgear, GE Magnablast, Medium Voltage Starters-Allen Bradley & Westinghouse, Transformers 22KV to 2.3KV, 33KV OCB’s.
  • Instrumentation, some knowledge in Pneumatics and Electronics, Loop Calibration.
  • Have some knowledge in power distribution and generation.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

JOB TITLE:  Services Manager

 

General Summary

A member of the Management team, the Services Manager will report to the Mill Manager.  The Services Manager will be responsible for all maintenance and utility functions of the Gorham operations.  The incumbent is responsible for leading the mill maintenance and utility teams in exceeding industry performance levels for plant safety, unscheduled delay time, scheduled maintenance, equipment reliability, boiler efficiency, and meeting all regulatory requirements.  The incumbent will work with the mill management team in developing and executing action plans to meet required maintenance and utility needs.  Focus on improving machine uptime to improve production and how to lower maintenance and utility cost.  Achieving these results will improve financial and operating results, which will improve shareholder value and position the mill for the future.

Working Conditions

The Services Manager spends 70% of the time providing guidance and support to direct reports, promoting safe work practices, and interacting with the workforce in a mill environment where the candidate can be exposed to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, electrical hazards, dust, walking and climbing stairs, slippery conditions and heavy machinery traffic.  The other 30% of the time is spent in an office environment preparing reports, developing and implementing utility and maintenance systems, developing departmental annual budget, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve cost performance, planning the fall outage and attending meetings.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help implement initiatives that lead to the Company’s operations exceeding industry benchmark performance for environment, health, safety, quality and production.  This is expected to be accomplished by working with the mill management team to develop and implement effective utility and maintenance systems.
  • Ensure that the values of the Gorham mill assets are protected through sound maintenance and capital programs.
  • Develop and implement maintenance, utilities and safety management systems that protect the employees, increase efficiency and reduce the liability of the company.
  • The incumbent will develop departmental annual budget while identifying and implementing opportunities to improve cost performance.  Help lead the mill in identifying, developing and prioritizing capital investment opportunities that improve the long-term value of the mill.
  • Be visible and accessible and help drive performance-driven work environment and instill a sense of urgency in the workforce.
  • Ensure the fall outage is planned, prioritized and within budget.
