Gorham Paper and Tissue, LLC located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is looking for personnel to join our Management Team We are currently looking for a Quality or Product Development Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and an Environmental Health Safety Manager The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, be a leader of change and be ready to assume a strategic role in the overall management of the Company.

QUALITY OR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Successful candidate should be willing and able to progress into Technical Director Position, using their existing knowledge in either Quality Assurance or Product Development as a basis for progression into the larger role. Current retiring Technical Director can provide developmental guidance A key member of the Executive management team, the Technical Director will report to the Chief Executive Officer.  Assuming a strategic role in the overall management of the company, the Technical Director will provide guidance and support on business, technical and growth strategy issues, monitor quality, develop new grade specifications, research and develop new products. The successful candidate will improve the organization’s performance and enhance the effectiveness of its employees and systems through business acumen, technical aptitude, professionalism and initiative.  Day-to-day responsibilities will encompass planning, implementing, managing and controlling all technical activities of the company. The Quality/Product Engineer will be available to take off- hour calls or call-ins to support operations.  Reporting to the Quality/Product Engineer are a Process Engineer and Co-op students.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic technical leadership needed to grow the company and achieve company goals as it relates to innovation and business development.
  • Use paper industry knowledge to analyze the machine capabilities and current grade mix, seeking new avenues to improve product mix and innovation.
  • Help determine, communicate and implement innovation and related action plans.
  • Lead a change in culture that will result in innovative and profitable new products.
  • Interact with sales and marketing function to develop strategies that maximize production capabilities and new product development.
  • Manage the day-to-day technical activities, including product development, product quality, and process improvement.
  • Assure mill’s reputation for quality.
  • Coordinate certification processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Minimum BS degree in related technical field, MS degree preferred with MBA and/or combination of applicable experience and education.  Pulp & Paper or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years in progressively responsible technical leadership roles.  Some experience in pulp, paper & tissue manufacturing environments is a key requirement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization is essential.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientated.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills, accompanied by the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate analyses.
  • Ability to partner effectively with the Executive Team in commitment to reaching company goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop support staff.
  • Ability to effectively delegate for maximum organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience with dyes and dye applications a plus.
  • Ability to cultivate business relationships with customers to enhance business development activities.
  • Knowledge of paper test methods and equipment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma a plus.

 

Environmental Health Safety Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities associated with subcontracting of vendors for service and equipment.
  • Assist operations management in the installation and maintenance of environmental compliance measures required under Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Assist management in interpreting and applying technical regulatory requirements on production operations.
  • Monitor cost control measures for environmental compliance.
  • Manage compliance projects at operating sites.
  • Stay informed with new developments in regulatory changes in environmental health requirements and incorporate this information into the company’s business plan.
  • Ensure effective utilization of personnel and respond promptly to the needs of the facility’s operations.
  • Safety committee creates procedures, analyzes data and makes recommendations for change under the leadership of the EHS Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • BS degree in related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in progressively responsible leadership roles, preferably in pulp & paper manufacturing environments.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills, accompanied by the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate analyses.
